Made a couple quick mods to my FAK pouch to make it more readily identifiable. Added red paracord zipper pulls, as well as a bit of red paracord in the shape of a red cross. I don't think that will be easily mistaken for anything else LOL.

Today during our Field Day ops. I made my first HF contact on 10 Meters. I was running 30 watts on a battery with a hamstick dipole.  Contact was running a QRP (low power 5 watts or less) station in Western Massachusetts.  So I'm gonna call this Field Day a success so far, even though I had a setback initially with my original antenna setup.

Turns out that the encoder for the transfer case was too weak to shift it into 4WD. Swapped out the encoder, and it works like a charm. So that's another project off the list.Now to install the APRS setup, and build the console, so I can install my radios.

Dad and I both got skunked on the first day out. Dad by a couple of Coyotes playing not even 30 yards in front of him, and myself by several hunters that kept walking into the area I was hunting in. I had sold my compound bow back over the summer, and I decided to go a little primitive, and got ahold of a Hickory longbow.Seen here in this picture...It draws about 55-60lbs at 28 inches, and is about 60 inches tip to tip. After you hit 26 inches, it get's to be a very stout draw.Been practicing with it a bit here and there, working on some instinctive shooting skills. Not so good at that yet.

My one complaint with the KelTec P11 is the grip doesn't readily fit my large hands, and one of my fingers rests under the mag well, causing some minor control issues.Today I solved that problem by ordering a set of Pearce Grip Extensions for the P11. After some deliberation, I settled on the Kel-Tec P11 for my Concealed Carry pistol. In it's compact size, it holds a 10+1 capacity, and I can use Smith & Wesson 59 series mags in it.I picked up the P11 earlier this morning along with a box of 124gr. Yesterday I took the first portion of the Ohio Concealed Carry coursework. Putting me one step closer to getting my CCW. The end of 2008 that is. As this year draws to a close, I sit back and reflect on all this year has brought me in terms of good friends and good times. While browsing Craigslist today I stumbled across a Leatherman PST for $10 so I emailed the guy about it. After a few emails back and forth, I went and picked it up. Pulled in my first DX station tonight on my Grundig FR200. It was WWRB out of Manchester, TN on 3.185Mhz. Which is approximately 450 Miles from my current location.I plan on sending in a reception report to see if they'll reply with a QSL card or letter. I'll post it on here if I receive one.
